Sheri Simson never really thought of being an entrepreneur. She had a successful career in the construction industry; she was even the first woman on the cover of Builder Architect Magazine. Due to her pregnancies, she became overweight. But she, like many, found exercise too time-consuming, unmotivating, and flat-out boring. Over a Christmas holiday, she went for a trip to Europe, and someone in her family got walking poles for Christmas. Curious, she tried them out, was amazed, and bought a pair for herself. She found herself walking often, and unbelievably, enjoying the exercise and seeing results. She lost so much weight doing so, her neighbours kept asking her, ‘what’s your secret?’ So she started importing the poles and then designed and manufactured her own for sale. Next thing she knew, she built a business, one that she has been running for over 14 years.
